Assistant Director, Urban Engaged Learning @ Trinity College, Public Policy Graduate Student, Urban Gardener
Gabby Nelson is the assistant director of urban engaged learning at Trinity College and a student in the graduate public policy program at Trinity. She is also part of Trinity's inaugural cohort of the graduate certificate in urban planning. She grows over 50 varieties of specialty cut flowers, herbs, and vegetables each summer in her 2,500 square foot urban garden. Her passion for gardening informs her approach to thinking about sustainable and equitable communities.
At Trinity, she coordinates the Center for Urban and Global Studies' student research grants program, the center's lecture series and special events. She also manages communications and data for the Center for Hartford Engagement and Research. In June 2019, she traveled to the Pearl River Delta in China as the teaching assistant for the Center's field course on urbanization, immigration, and innovation in the region.
With experience working in higher education, law, and non-profits, Gabby is knowledgeable about the study of community development and skilled at enhancing organizations through problem solving, effective communication, and proactive organization.
